Pyramedia hosted an exclusive preview screening of its latest production to be produced out of the company’s new division which was launched earlier this year to produce and finance feature-films, yesterday. Held at the Hilton Abu Dhabi, Nashwa Al Ruwaini, the company’s CEO invited key members of the regions press to a special Iftar dinner where the 8-minute preview of ‘Changing Sands’ was screened to an audience of 60 people.
The feature-documentary, directed by award winning British-Yemeni filmmaker Bader Ben Hirsi, tells the story of Abu Dhabi’s past, present and future beginning the tale though the eyes and experiences of the late British Explorer Sir Wilfred Thesiger and his two bedouin guides Bin Kabina and Bin Ghubaisha.
Addressing the audience made up of journalists from key publications including Egypt’s Al Ahram Weekly, the UAE’s Zahrat Al Khaleej and Saudi Arabia’s Sayidaty Magazine, Nashwa Al Ruwaini quoted, “This is the first project out of a slate of films and documentaries that we will be producing over the next three years and I specifically chose to tell the tale of Abu Dhabi as sign of our commitment to contributing to the development of such an amazing Emirate. We want the world to know where Abu Dhabi has come from and how much it has developed in such a short amount of time, but more importantly we wanted to give viewers around the globe an insight into where Abu Dhabi will be taking us in the next 20 years.
The feature documentary, which began production in March this year is currently in the final editing stages and will begin its film festival tour at the beginning of next year.
